An etcher and watercolourist who was born in New Zealand. She studied under Elizabeth and Stanhope Forbes at Newlyn. After marrying the painter Robert Hughes in 1910 they moved to St. Buryan. A respected member of the Newlyn school she exhibited at the R.A., the R.I. (elected 1933) and organised Newlyn and St. Ives exhibitions. She sold her studio, which was in the Lamorna valley, in 1940.
